Green Monster Smoothie- best breakfast ever!

If you have a blender and a freezer, have we got your breakfast! The Green Monster is a breakfast smoothie with tons of vitamins, minerals, protein, fibre, healthy fat and water for hydration. This recipe will make enough smoothie for two 500 mL servings. Don't worry about the spinach; you cannot even taste it, but your body will notice the antioxidants and folic acid! There are many Green Monster recipes on the Internet, but this is our personal favorite.

Green Smoothie


  • 2 cups loose frozen baby spinach
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • 2 cups almond milk
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 cup of ice (preferably crushed)
  • 2 scoops (60g) of protein powder (whey or soy)

Combine spinach, banana, ice, peanut butter, cocoa powder, and almond milk in the blender. Blend until smooth. Add the protein powder and blend at low speed until mixed. Don't blend protein powder on high, or put it in early or it will froth. Enjoy!
Each 500 ml Green Monster has approximately 365 calories, 8 g of unsaturated fat, 60g of carbs (about 15 from fibre, with the majority of the sugar coming from the banana), and 27 g of protein. It's also loaded with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. A great way to start the day.
